The Banat
On November 15, 1918, the Banat Republicexisted. The Banat Republic(Romanian Republica b’n’ean’) was proclaimed on November 1, 1918 in Timaswar. The Romanian Revolution, which led to the overthrow of the Ceausescuregime and democracy, began in 1989 in the banat city of Timioara.
History
After the establishment of the camera administration in 1719, the Banat was subordinated exclusively to the Vienna Court Chamber as a crown and chamber domain that could be uncovered in the state.
An economic policy for immigrants
At the invitation of the Austrian Empress, German peasant families came from the Rhenish, Upper Rhine, Frankish and Swabian circles of the Reich. From 1722 to 1726 there were about 12,000 to 16,000 settlers. They settled in villages along the north-south axis, which connected the fortresses of Arad, Temeschwar and Ujpalanka. After the Treaty of Trianon in 1920, the Banat and thus this relatively closed German settlement area were torn apart in three parts. The end of the Second World War finally led to the emigration of the Danube Swabians
